Almuftah Group employees have been awarded firefighting training certificates from Civil Defense-Qatar after completing ‘Practical and Theory sessions’ fire safety exercises in Doha.

Company managers handed out the certificates in a simple ceremony at Almuftah Group’s head office in Al Saad. In a statement, Rami Yarvas, HRD Manager of Almuftah Group, expressed his gratitude for the achievement, saying that “in accordance with the Qatar law on hazards and safety, we at management saw the need to comply. By investing in this kind of training, we are not only guaranteeing our readiness to tackle fire hazards, but also actually fighting it if it occurs.”

The awarding formality saw the distribution of fire safety certificates and token of appreciation for the 78 company participants, who came from different divisions of Almuftah Group. The company plans to disseminate the newly-acquired safety knowledge to other employees in the next few weeks.

Mr. Rami also added that the training is “at same time aimed at keeping our assets in good condition, Isha’Allah.” Also present at the ceremony where Mr. Ahmad Radaideh, Technical Manager, Almuftah Trading and Contracting Co/Tyre Division, and Mr. Samer Basma, Division Manager of Almuftah Group.

With the recent updating of Qatar fire safety regulations, the Ministry of Interior Civil Defense has issued standardized fire and emergency safety by establishing safety training centers. This legislation has also been the instrument for educating the wider public relating to personal and property hazards.

The Qatar government is also proposing legislation that will make fire safety inspections a must for new commercial and industrial establishments.
